The Advantages of Tin

Tin has many uses. You may be familiar with some of its most common alloys: pewter and bronze, but did you know tin has many more uses?

One of tin’s foremost applications is as a corrosion resistant plating. What we call “tin cans” are in fact steel cans coated in tin, and the same principle applies to tin plated perforated sheets and panels.

Tin is ductile and malleable and is soft enough to be worked cold. It has a relatively low melting point, meaning it works great as coating or plating with other metals.

Additionally, tin polishes very well. Ever notice how shiny the inside of a can is? Tin plate is a great choice for applications where corrosion resistance and aesthetics are concerned.

  1. Question: What are the main advantages of using tin in metal applications?

Tin is a good material because it Valentine?s day flower deliverydoesn't rust easily, can be bent and shaped without breaking, and is easy to handle.
It can also form a protective layer while keeping a shiny, nice look, which is why it's used in things like metal sheets and panels with holes.
